The Kentucky Cattleman's Association

The Kentucky Cattleman’s Association was started back in 1973 when two groups, The Kentucky Feeder Calf Association and The Kentucky Cattleman’s Association, merged together to team up and be one voice for the cattle industry.  A man names Smith T. Powell helped with the creation of one organization to fight for the beef cattle industry. Some refer to him as the “Grandfather of KBCA."

Christian Student Fellowship: Change the Campus, Change the World

By: Caroline Davis

CSF has meant a lot of things to a lot of students over the years. Some people consider the building their home away from home. CSF staff member, Lauren Bowman, described it as the “bee’s knees.” One thing is for sure; CSF has a very welcoming community of people.

Common Good

The three o’clock school bell rings at Sayre Elementary.  All the children are anxious to leave school; some can’t wait to go home and watch their favorite television show, some cannot wait to get to home and have a snack and sit around and do nothing until their parents get home, but for a select few, they can’t wait to have five to ten volunteers come pick them up from school and take them to the church across the street.

Hope Lodge – Giving Cancer Patients Relief

Do you know someone with cancer that must travel away from home for treatment?  Have you had cancer yourself or were you a caregiver for a cancer patient and wish there were some place to stay besides a hotel during the treatment process? Would you like to receive information on pain management, community resources, nutrition, fatigue, and the side effects of treatment?  Well, the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge could be the answer.

Making the Best Better, Power of Youth!

Are you a young child or teenager who doesn’t have anything to do on the weekends or during the school year? Are you uninvolved in your community, school, or church? Well this is an organization where you can be involved in your community and school! 4-H is one of the largest youth development organizations with more than 6 million youth in urban, suburban, and rural areas. 4-H is for girls and boys who are 5-19 years old of any race, sex, religion, color, or place of residence.

The Catholic Action Center

The Catholic Action Center is an organization with many different facilities that prides itself on providing for Lexington’s homeless community. This organization provides many resources to those that are in need. Through the Catholic Action Center, the homeless community is able to get donated items of clothing through their “Gods Garments” facility. The homeless are able to receive breakfast, lunch and dinner through their “Catholic Action Center” facility, and they are able to have a warm place and safe place to sleep at night through their “Community Inn” facility.

Christian Appalachian Project

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Matthew 25:35-40
